The last of the planned face-2-face Focus Groups has completed. Lots of views and opinions about the online world with some really useful suggestions about how to present the findings. All of the C&YP involved in the F2F sessions have been incredible ambassadors and are a credit to their schools - well done!
Wed 1st August 2018: |
Early indications show that the MyAdvice online survey has received the views of over 2,100 C&YP from across the Lancashire region. A HUGE Thank You to all those Schools, Staff and especially, our Children and Young People, who took the opportunity to get involved. The results provide a wealth of views and invaluable information which will be reviewed over the Autumn Term to help inform and develop future Online Safety progression across the region.

Project Overview:Launching on Safer Internet Day 2018 and running through to the end of the Summer Term 2018, the first phase of the project involves asking our children and young people for their views on a variety of topics through a dedicated online survey. With the support of our school colleagues, the survey is designed to be completed by children and young people in class and is applicable across all age ranges and abilities with a particular focus on Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 students. The survey asks questions about young people's behaviour online including: what devices they use; how much time they spend online; how they would like to learn about online safety and what advice they would give to others (including their younger peers; other children/young people; their teachers; their parents/carers). Importantly, the survey also asks about what THEY would like to see change about the online world. The project is open to all schools across the Lancashire region and the survey takes around 20 minutes to complete. It can be done as part of Safer Internet Day or as part of later Online Safety activities throughout the Spring and Summer Terms. The results of the survey will be compiled during the Autumn Term 2018 and a summary report and outline of responses across age groups will be produced and published to help inform, develop and evidence future local progression both in schools and across the wider children's workforce.Teacher Notes:Accessed by clicking on the icon on the left are useful teacher guidance notes. It is recommended that colleagues familiarise themselves with the survey before the activity as the notes provide information for school staff and include a full list of questions and some useful tips and explanations to help with completion or pre-empt children's questions as they progress through the survey.
Accessing the Online Survey:The following link to the online survey will be made live on Safer Internet Day 2018 (Tuesday 6th February) and will close on 31st July 2018. The survey can be navigated through using the 'Prev' and 'Next' buttons at the bottom of each page although it is important to note that in order for the answers to be recorded, respondents must click on the 'DONE' button at the end of the survey.www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/lscbmyadviceSupporting Activities:In addition to the completing the survey, colleagues may find the Education Packs developed for Safer Internet Day 2018 useful resources to use alongside or as an extension of the survey activity. These can be accessed from the Safer Internet Day website (www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2018/education-packs) and cover a variety of groups and ages.
