Bitesize Briefings: Understanding the effects and risks of cannabis use

The bitesize briefings will last two hours, with total of 18 sessions taking place over 9 days – one day in each of the Children's Social Care team areas: Preston; Burnley; Lancaster; Chorley and South Ribble; Fylde and Wyre; Pendle; West Lancashire; Hyndburn and Ribble Valley; and Rossendale.  The first three sessions (Preston; Burnley and Lancaster) will take place during National Drugs and Alcohol Facts week – w/c 22 January.

The aim of the session is to share information with multi-agency frontline practiations working closely with familes e.g.social workers, health visitors; midwives; teachers etc.  The content will cover:

• Legislation;
• What is cannabis and what are the issues/risks involved?
• Different types of cannabis;
• Mythbusting;
• SCR learning;
• Making effective assessments to address cannabis use.

The dates and session times can be found below - please follow the relevant link to register your place.  Please note, each briefing will accommodate 50 delegates and places will be allocated to ensure there is fair, multi-agency representation.  Places will be confirmed via email 2 weeks before the chosen event.

In addition to the briefings, a resource pack will be developed to support and complement the sessions, and an e-learning package will become available later in the year.
